Internet access
In the library many workstations are available to access the Internet and to consult electronic resources (both free and subscription-based).
Workstations have Italian Operating System and Software and are equipped with the most common office programs such as Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and PDF Creator (useful to convert different file formats in .pdf). The statistical software SPSS is also available.
To use the library workstations you must use your SCU username and password (the same you use to access your University of Torino email account and Intranet).
External users are provided with temporary accounts upon identification and scanning of a proper form of identification. These accounts grants access to the standalone workstations and to the Wi Fi connection. They are not valid to access electronic resources from home.
The library standalone workstations are not suitable for saving permanently your data and files. You may just save them temporarily and for just the present session. Standalone workstations are restored to the original status once the user logs off. Thus every item saved on them by users is deleted. Please remeber to save your items permanently on a memory stick or removable memory of any kind before disconnecting.
Workstations may be used only for study and research purposes. You are bound to refund any damage to hardware and software you may cause during your activity.
According the law in force you are personally responsible of the use of the service. In particular should you breech any copyright licence realted with electronic resources.
All the tables in the reading room are equipped with electrical outlets.
